                                       بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

                                Introduction

My Graduation from Southern Somali University

April 15, 2023, was a day that will forever be etched in my memory a day of triumph, reflection, and boundless hope. On that day, I stood among my peers at Southern Somali University, adorned in a cap and gown, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication in earning my Bachelor's degree in Public Administration.

The ceremony was held in Baidoa, the heart of the Bay region, where the warm Somali sun bathed us in its golden light. The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as families, friends, and faculty gathered to celebrate our achievements. The atmosphere was cool, a testament to the significance of the moment. As I walked across the stage to receive my Bachelor Degree, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had brought me here. The late-night study sessions, the challenging assignments, the moments of doubt all of it had led to this pinnacle. Holding my degree in my hands was not just a personal achievement; it was a symbol of the resilience and determination that defined my cohort.

The speeches delivered by our professors and dignitaries resonated deeply with me. They spoke of the transformative power of education and the responsibility we now bore to contribute to the betterment of our communities and nation. Their words ignited a renewed sense of purpose within me, reinforcing my commitment to serving the public with integrity and dedication.

Looking around at my fellow graduates, I saw a diverse group of individuals, each with unique stories and aspirations. Together, we represented the future of Somalia a future grounded in knowledge, leadership, and service. Our shared experiences had forged bonds that would last a lifetime, and as we celebrated our success, we also celebrated the collective strength that had brought us to this point.

That day, under the Somali sky, I realized that graduation was not just an end but a beginning. It was the start of a new chapter, filled with opportunities to apply the principles of public administration to real-world challenges. It was a call to action to take the lessons learned and use them to make a positive impact in our communities.

As I reflect on that unforgettable day, I am filled with gratitude for the education I received, for the support of my family and friends, and for the unwavering belief in my potential.

April 15, 2023, was more than just a graduation day; it was a celebration of dreams realized and a promise to continue striving for excellence in all that I do.

On April 27, 2023, I participated in a transformative five-day training on advocacy and networking for civil society organizations in Baidoa, Somalia. This training was part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of local organizations to effectively advocate for human rights and community development.

The sessions were conducted by the Southwest Human Rights Defenders Network (SWHRDN), an organization dedicated to promoting human rights and the rule of law in Somalia. The training covered a range of topics, including advocacy strategies, networking techniques, and the formation of human rights clubs. Participants were equipped with the skills necessary to engage with stakeholders, influence policy, and address human rights issues within their communities.
Throughout the week, we engaged in practical exercises, group discussions, and case studies that highlighted the challenges and opportunities faced by civil society organizations in Somalia. One notable aspect was the emphasis on community dialogue, which has proven effective in fostering understanding and cooperation among diverse groups in Baidoa. These dialogues have addressed issues such as conflict resolution and have contributed to building a more cohesive society.

By the end of the training, I had gained valuable insights into the intricacies of advocacy and networking. The experience not only enhanced my professional skills but also deepened my commitment to supporting civil society initiatives in Somalia. The knowledge and connections gained during this training continue to inform my work, enabling me to contribute more effectively to the advancement of human rights and community development in the region.

Reminiscing about the day I chose to pursue a master's degree in social work and administration. I now see how crucial that event was in determining my future. My ambition to expand my knowledge and advance my professional goals in social work led me to carefully investigate Kampala International University, or "KIU." KIU was the ideal fit for me because of the program's stellar reputation and compatibility with my career objectives.

What made the decision even more meaningful was when I learnt about the 50% tuition discount available through KIU.  For me, the discount changed everything—it wasn't just a financial advantage. I was able to concentrate on my academic path without having to worry about money problems all the time. I had a competitive edge because to this chance, which allowed me to focus entirely on my academics, interact with classmates from other backgrounds, and acquire useful skills that would help me in my future profession.
